Paul Middleditch

Director

At school Paul Middleditch was a repeat winner in a filmmaking contest run by childrens' show Spot On. As a teen, he made music videos for Tim Finn and Tex Pistol (including hit song 'The Game of Love'). These days Middleditch is a sought after commercials director based in Australia, whose work includes the celebrated Big Ad, for Carlton Draught. His feature debut was starting over drama Terra Nova (1998). Romance A Cold Summer (2003) played in multiple festivals. In 2008 Middleditch returned to Wellington for Tom Scott-scripted drama Separation City. He went on to co-direct coming of age story Uproar, with Hamish Bennett (Bellbird).

I would describe myself as… a small man with a lot of energy. When I look in the mirror, I’m still the kid I was when I was 10 who picked up a camera and made home movies with my family. Paul Middleditch, in a 2010 interview with Shots magazine
