Sophie Hambleton

The daughter of an actor and a drama teacher, Sophie Hambleton took to performance at a young age. Three years after graduating from Toi Whakaari she won a 2010 Chapman Tripp theatre award for Actress of the Year. On screen, she has appeared in movies White Lies and Everything We Loved, and starred in 2015 short film Abandon Ship. That year the longtime Outrageous Fortune fan joined prequel show Westside in an ongoing role as Carol, the naive but well-meaning wife of a dodgy bank robber. Hambleton was nominated for Best Supporting Actress at the 2021 NZ TV Awards for her work in season six of the show.

I was a huge Outrageous Fortune fan and when that ended I thought 'No, I'm never going to be able to be on it'... When Westside came about and I was cast as Carol it was awesome. It's such a great Kiwi story. Sophie Hambleton in a TV Guide interview, 8 July 2016
