Paul Casserly won a Qantas TV Award in 2009 for directing upstart satirical show Eating Media Lunch. The show ran for six years on TVNZ. Casserly continued his creative partnership with presenter Jeremy Wells on The Unauthorised History of New Zealand and Birdland. Casserly has also directed music programmes for Neil Finn and Bic Runga, and videos for Greg Johnson, Tim Finn, and his own group Strawpeople.
Claire Chitham’s eight years playing Shortland Street receptionist Waverley Wilson made her one of the show’s longest-serving castmembers to date, as well as one of the most popular. She went on to a memorable role as gang girl Aurora Bay in Outrageous Fortune and won an NZ Screen Award for her work in Interrogation.
Wesley Dowdell auditioned for his first play in an attempt to get out of a maths class at Onehunga High School. It was love. At 17 the “born Westie” began the first of many roles with Auckland’s Massive Theatre Company. In 2007, a guest turn playing a gormless tow truck driver on Outrageous Fortune blossomed into an ongoing role. In 2014 he got behind the drumkit — playing Knuckles in comedy series Coverband.
