Bitter Nest

Solid Gold Hell , Music Video – 1995

from the album Swingin' Hot Murder (1994)

The only music video Solid Gold Hell ever produced, Bitter Nest sees the group go all out on chaos and debauchery. In a montage of wild and wacky scenes, the band can be seen partying, shaving, petting a cat, dancing in a strip club, performing a gig, and smoking copious amounts of cigarettes — just a sampling of their strange on-screen antics. The Auckland noise band were something of an anomaly for their genre, being a Flying Nun act from the North Island. They released two albums during their short, noisy existence, with Bitter Nest originating from their debut record 'Swingin’ Hot Murder', released in 1994.

We shot some of it at the Las Vegas Strip Club. Not sure why we are playing cards and smoking a lot — it seemed like a good idea and worked well for the lighting. I'm particularly proud of my custom-made sock garters, which make a brief appearance.
– Guitarist Matthew Heine on the making of the music video, 9 March 2009
