Money in the bank, that's what she was, money in the bank...
– Ship engineer Gary Noonan (Ross Buckingham) rues what might have been
Gorgeous gift from the sea, mate. Couldn't even bloody land it.
– Muz Dugmore (Steve 'Devo' Tate) has a few regrets.
I didn't believe it myself actually, for quite a while. Nobody did. Still smacking myself over it...sometime you've got to let reality set in, deal with it, you know.
– Fisherman Murray 'Muz' Dugmore (Steve 'Devo' Tate) reflects on an incredible stint at sea
Nigel hasn't talked about it a lot, but...I know something strange must have gone on out there. Nigel's a really sensitive boy you know?
– Jackie Larkin (Vivian Stanley) talks about her sensitive son, Nigel (Jeremy Randerson)
Well we heard they'd caught something really rare like some prehistoric fish or something that was just going to make us millions...otherwise I wouldn't be here.
– Joan Noonan (Patrice Jessup) talks about a rumoured 'big catch' on her husband's boat
The script/documentary format demanded a massive variety of characters and locations both at sea and on the land. This put huge pressure on the production in every department. As I wrote the piece to be a real account of a fictitious event through the eyes of the crew and their immediate family members, therefore it was very important to cast a believable group of actors and non-actors, in particular the fishermen, who needed to be physically believable ... I want the audience to feel as if these moments are simply recorded events
– Writer/director Adam Stevens on making Delores, NZ Film Commission website
I don't know why we don't just egg and breadcrumb her — a few chips, a bit of coleslaw...
– Randal 'Fishbin' Gallop (David Mackie) sees a culinary solution to their surprise catch
