Girl vs. Boy - Series Two

Television (Full Length Episodes) – 2013

Episode One
With exams almost over and summer holidays stretching ahead, Maxine (Courtney Abbot) is awkwardly fumbling through her relationship with her boyfriend, Jake (Will Robertson). Well-meaning friends give conflicting advice, turning their next date into a public disaster. Maxine’s home life is complicated by the arrival of a pair of eccentric Norwegian homestays, Olaf (Chris Parker) and Kjesten (Abby Damen). The town casts Maxine and Jake as the poster couple for the Happiest Suburb competition, and a new boy, Tom (Hayden J Weal) moves in across the street from Maxine.

Episode Two
After Jake’s embarrassing secret is mysteriously posted on Maxine’s Facebook, she sets out to find the culprit before she loses his trust. Her investigation leads to hypnotising her mum (Tina Cleary), while community pressure mounts to keep the “perfect couple” intact for the competition. Kjesten is up to mischief with Maxine's hypnotised mum, and a mysterious love letter arrives on Maxine’s doorstep, before another anonymous note calls her to the library.

Episode Three
On her way to the library, Maxine instead crosses paths with new neighbour Tom, who invites her to the cafe. Awkwardness ensues when the pair run into Jake at the very same cafe, hanging out with Kjesten. Realising Tom did not send the anonymous note, Maxine and Gina (Emma Draper) review the library's security footage. Meanwhile, Jake attempts a bad-boy reinvention, and Maxine questions who she can trust in The Bay.

Episode Four
Suspicion falls on Olaf as the culprit behind the Facebook post, while Kjesten decides to turn herself into Maxine's twin. Rival suburb The Valley releases a TV ad for the Happiest Suburb competition, while The Bay pushes Jake and Maxine back into the spotlight to make a comeback. Just as reconciliation between the two seems possible, another humiliating post surfaces, prompting Maxine to look more closely at Tom and his family as suspects.

Episode Five
Tensions rise as The Bay committee debates how to win the competition. Jake starts dating Kjesten, who is still dressing up as Maxine's doppelganger, and graffiti appears on town posters featuring Maxine and Jake. Convinced the new kid in town is sabotaging them, the committee's amateur spying backfires. As Maxine warms to Tom, a disturbing discovery involving orange spray paint throws both her and the investigation into doubt.

Episode Six
With the Happiest Suburb competition deadline looming, Maxine finds herself caught red-handed with a can of spray paint. She must prove her innocence and find the real culprit behind the sabotage. Olaf and Gina unexpectedly couple up, Kjesten is ready to drop Jake, and accusations fly. Maxine may have uncovered the culprit, but first must make a risky live TV appearance to clear her name and help the suburb win.

Episode Seven
On the day of the competition's live broadcast, Maxine prepares to win over the public with her hand farting skills, and a poem about love. Meanwhile, her friends scramble to stop one last act of sabotage and the truth finally surfaces about the Facebook post, the graffiti, and who’s been manipulating events all summer. When everything threatens to unravel on live television, Maxine and her friends must save the day.
