Holmes - Geoffrey Palmer with Acker Bilk and Kenny Ball

Television (Excerpts) – 1989

Now it's not widely known at all, but a very famous New Zealander has been known to pucker his lips for the old brass instrument.
– Paul Holmes
I've been looking forward to kumaras ...
– Acker Bilk on Wellington
I accepted an opportunity to walk around the top of the Beehive one Sunday afternoon for the Holmes TV show, playing the trumpet. It is not that I liked the Holmes show, indeed I think it did a permanent disservice to New Zealand journalism by dumbing it down. But mediocre trumpeter that I am, how else could I have had an opportunity to play with two musicians of the the calibre of Kenny Ball and Acker Bilk? I loved it.
– Geoffrey Palmer, in 2013's Reform: A Memoir, 'Some Lighter Moments'
