Westfield Style Pasifika Fashion Awards 2002

Television – 2002

So I understand this is a part of the traditionally inspired section?... Do you want to just quickly turn around for us, and show us the whole kit?  Yeah baby! Every shopper's dream, baby.

– Presenter Miriama Smith compliments a traditionally Inspired outfit

Westfield Pasifika is much more than just a fashion show. It's a community event that brings together Kiwis and Pacific neighbours of all races, ages and cultures to celebrate in a truly unique New Zealand experience.

– Presenter Stan Wolfgramm describes the Westfield Pasifika event

We met with Stan Wolfgramm and he said "what do you think about mixing two cultures, Tahiti with Irish?" and I said " ok, they jump". And I thought well 'there's a beat there', and we said "yup, it's good".

– The leader of Tahiti Ia Ora on their surprising collaboration with an Irish Dance Club

He's also an underwear model for Calvin Klein. You know, the pictures that you see wearing the boxers, that's this guy.

– Te Awanui Reeder from Nesian Mystic teases his bandmate aftre he takes a turn on the runway

The opportunity through awards for young designers is phenomenal, and it's profiling New Zealand as a creative nation. That's what I like about it, and putting the fashion together with some of the best up and coming musical talent's wonderful.

– Prime Minister and awards presenter Helen Clark, near the end of this special

It's telling all of New Zealand actually we're all Pacific Islanders. Like wake up, and smell the puha!

– Designer and judge Francis Hooper on Kiwis embracing their Pacific status, late in this special
