The Little Things

Short Film (Full Length) – 2004

PG
Parental Guidance
....a subtle, beautiful, moving short film that takes us into an experience of the world through the eyes of a young Māori girl.
– Benjamin Barrett, reviewing The Little Things in mid 2005, on website The Lumière Reader
When I began writing the little things I knew from the outset that I wanted it to be a story that whispered and didn’t yell. I also knew that in order for it to work it had to be observational in style and it had to be honest.
– Writer/director Reina Webster-Iti, in the film's press kit
As the product of solo parenting myself, I wrote this movie to highlight the unexpected ways in which generosity and love can sometimes come to us in the wake of difficult circumstances.
