The Weed Eaters

Following in the Kiwi tradition of making a low-budget film with your mates, The Weed Eaters was impressively shot for under $20,000. In this horror-comedy, two young couples (Alice May Connolly, Finnius Teppett, Samuel Austin and Annabel Kean) head to a rural bach for New Year's Eve, where they surprisingly get a taste for human flesh. They surmise "it was probably the weed, right?" The film's cast all took on a key role (or two) behind the camera, with Callum Devlin directing and editing. After opening at the 2025 NZ International Film Festival, the movie went on to win global festival awards and distribution.
