Still only in her 30s, Bic Runga is arguably the most loved and acclaimed Kiwi songbird, with her choruses on singles like 'Sway' and 'Good Morning Baby' part of the national songbook. Christchurch-born (to a Chinese-Malaysian cabaret singer mother and Māori soldier father) Runga's 1997 debut Drive sold seven times platinum; a NZ record she broke in 2002 with Beautiful Collision (11 times platinum), followed by Birds in 2005. With an international fan-base, Runga has received countless accolades (the Silver Scroll and numerous Tuis) and was made a member of the NZ Order of Merit in 2006. More recently she helped compose the soundtrack for cross-cultural romance My Wedding and Other Secrets.
