David Lomas Investigates - First Episode

In July 1962, an infant was discovered in a Palmerston North phone box. Fifty-seven years later Keith Mitchell, a truck driver, pastor, father and grandfather and the famous "baby in the phone box" is the first subject in David Lomas Investigates. Mitchell's decades long search for his parents and identity sees Lomas turn to DNA technology. Soon concrete leads are found. Lomas discovers surprise twists and turns in Mitchell's birth story, including complex and moving ethical dilemmas. This was the third series about locating missing family members from journalist, producer and presenter David Lomas.

In my career in journalism, I've done a number of stories I'm quite proud of and this definitely sits way up there among them. Not only we do we solve the mystery — and it's pretty straightforward solving it in some ways — but we also get to explain why these people did what they did. That was the most amazing thing.
