Jarod Rawiri

Actor [Ngāti Whanaunga, Ngāti Tūwharetoa, Ngāti Hine]

Jarod Rawiri has played everyone from the nice guy next door (Shortland Street, 2007 movie Jinx Sister) to Hōne Heke. His performance as the Ngāpuhi chief in Waitangi: What Really Happened was nominated for an Aotearoa TV Award in 2011. In the same period the Toi Whakaari acting graduate played a grieving brother in film Matariki. In 2015 he began a three and a half year run on Shortland Street, as dad Mo Hannah. After offbeat wrestling drama Colonial Combat, he joined the trio of detectives on The Brokenwood Mysteries in 2021. Rawiri's CV also includes Christchurch quake drama Hope and Wire and Taika Waititi short Tama Tū.

I love comedy. I feel like comedy is kind of a hidden talent with me because often I get cast in quite serious dramatic roles. Jarod Rawiri, in a 17 July 2019 TV Guide interview
