Jarod Rawiri

Actor [Ngāti Whanaunga, Ngāti Tūwharetoa, Ngāti Hine]

Jarod Rawiri has played everyone from a sensitive nice guy (in his first big movie  role, 2007‘s Jinx Sister) to Hōne Heke. His performance as the Ngāpuhi chief in TV's Waitangi: What Really Happened was nominated for a 2011 Aotearoa TV Award. Having acted in short films for director Michael Bennett, the Toi Whakaari acting graduate went on to join Bennett’s first feature, Matariki as a grieving brother. He has also acted in quake drama Hope and Wire and offbeat web series Colonial Combat, and was a soldier in Taika Waititi award-winner Tama Tū. In 2015 he began three and a half year run on soap Shortland Street, as father Mo Hannah.

It's showing the subtle differences between cultures, but also showing subtle truths of people going about living their day-to-day lives. Jarod Rawiri, on 2010 movie Matariki
