Television (Full Length) – 1994

Every year designers from New Zealand's leading fashion houses launch their spring and summer collections at an event hosted by Corbans Wines.
– Narrator Simon Prast introduces the fashion collection for 1994, at the start of this special
Let's face it, we follow all the European trends as to what's happening there . . .  you see the design boards, and the directions that are shown. We pick up on that very early in the piece, and come back, and do it often even before even Europe does
– Designer Isabel Harris, on taking international inspiration for the collection, in part one
Women want to look quite natural. They want to look healthy, and a little bit more real too. Shine has made a really big sort of comeback, because the look, for about 10 years now has been matte. So it's a little bit more real,:you can see the skin, you've got a really nice, healthy shine coming through.
– Makeup Artist Margaret Petchell, on the latest makeup trends, in part two
...Romance has come back into women's fashion, particularly young girls' fashion . . .  It's never tacky, it's always done with a cheeky sort of hint, but never overdone . . .  It's a very young look, and it's very fresh, and it's just adorable.
– Fashion Quarterly editor Paula Ryan, on the return of romance in women's fashion, in part three
A lot of women these days I tend to find, they've had enough of perms. They've had enough of sort of feeling so that their hair is dry. They want good condition. So they're really, really going into making sure that the colour gives them the body and the condition that they want.
– Hairstylist Patrick Cameron on hair trends for the season, in part three
We've been influenced by 60s, 70s, 80s — we've run out of decades! So now it's countries that are influencing us, and we've got Eastern, Oriental, and even Asian to an extent, and a lot of Indian influences this season.
– Fashion Quarterly editor Paula Ryan on influences for the 1994 season, in part four
Everybody wants to wear the shorter skirt again. And no, not everyone will wear the 14 inch tennis length. The teeny boppers will, with good legs I hope. But most women will wear about a 21 inch.
– Fashion Quarterly editor Paula Ryan on trends towards shorter skirt lengths, in part five
