I just saw Jack Brown Genius on a DVD that I borrowed from my local library in Helsinki (but I'm French). I love early Peter Jackson movies and there are some of their qualities in Mr Hiles's debut feature, qualities of the 80-90s productions that you can't find anymore. It's a great little movie, very neatly structured and extremely underrated. It's a shame it didn't do well in Cannes, but that perhaps wasn't the right place to show it. It definitely needs to be rehabilitated. I watch a lot of movies and I'm very critical but I can say that what Mr Hiles made here is quite special and unique: he should be very proud of his film.

You were not the only person to purchase the Hong Kong DVD. However, I replaced it with the proper widescreen version that came out in the US.
You do have the US one now, don't you? I'm waiting for the Blu-ray now:)

I guess I must have been the only poor smuck to actually like this film enough to buy the Hong Kong DVD.

Tim Balme and Stuart Devenie were as brilliant as ever. Wasnt this Marton Csokas first feature film?
