Made for those kept apart, may the journey take them closer
– The end title card of this film
Tīhore mai te rangi, tīhore mai. Mao mao mao te ua, whiti mai te rā. / Clear up sky, clear up. Stop stop stop rain, come out sun.
– Pita Turei sings Tīhore Mai Te Rangi written by Hirini Melbourne, in this film
I was thinking about the pandemic and the world being instructed to stay away from others, to wear masks, and not share air with others. I wanted to finish my film with a message of hope. . . People during their isolation, got more in touch with where they lived and the creatures that shared that space with them. Lockdowns provided a silver lining — an invitation for people to reconnect to, and acknowledge nature.
– Director Morag Brownlie on the film's themes of isolation and nature, Rome Prisma Film Awards website
