As a former sound engineer I remember using the Nagra a lot, and they certainly were a quality machine, especial at 15ips. This does sound like it has a small amount of well applied reverb. What a star!

Hi Su - I work for NZ On Screen now (this website), but coincidentally I was the director of this piece many years ago when working for TVNZ. You mention the songs sounding very "produced" - and I wanted to comment on that. We had no idea she was going to perform for us. We were just a basic TV interview crew, and she happened to pick up her guitar and sing. But it was the days of film, so our soundman was recording onto one of the old-fashioned Nagra recorders, and they were amazing. But mostly I think it sounds so great because Joni is so great - just a beautiful clear singer. When she did Night Ride Home that was a completely new song to us, but of course it ended up the title track to her next album...

Why does this sound so produced? It sounds like it came right off the album... which was said to be recorded a couple of years later.

Joni Mitchell has been one of my musical heroes for the better part of the last five decades… Oy vey, did I just say that? Well, she has!! Now she is, from what I hear, another hero of mine, just on a different level. I am a self diagnosed Morgellon's patient having been symptomatic for eight years. If there is any information that you've found valuable please forward to me at [email protected]. I'll peruse it while I'm listening to Ms. Mitchell's music!! Thank you. Peace and love to you and yours. Dawna-Jo Buchalter

As I look across this room, I see the one and only record album that I keep as a prized piece of art...."For the Roses". That's how much Joni Mitchell means to me.
