– Aspiring Wellington City Councillor Ginette McDonald

Vote for me if you want to see some action...of the right sort.

– Ginette McDonald lures voters at the Newtown market

My big, round half-Irish head.

– Ginette McDonald describes her campaign billboard

When he [Donald Trump] was running for president, I did all I could in my small semi-retired way to alert people to the danger he presented, and even now people think I'm over-obsessed and scream at me that I'm an old leftie. – Ginette McDonald on why she ran for council, The Wellingtonian, February 2014

Change is not necessarily good, but people who are far wiser than I am have suggested it is time to perhaps infuse it with some fresh energy.

– Ginette McDonald on hoping to bring some fresh energy to the council, The Dominion Post, August 2013
