The Holy Roller

Film (Excerpts) – 2011

M
Mature

After moving to the big smoke to start on a new path, Pastor Luke (Angus Benfield, from Huhu Attack! and 2022 movie Motorvation) soon finds himself up against some dodgy characters. Loosely based on Benfield's experiences as a youth pastor, The Holy Roller captures pre-quake central Christchurch; it was shot over 15 days in early 2009. After the effects of the Christchurch quakes halted post-production, the indie movie finally debuted at the 2011 Christchurch Film Festival. The cast includes Victoria Abbott, The Hobbit's Mark Hadlow and Simon Barnett.
