The Making of Stickmen

Television (Full Length) – 2001

This light-hearted behind the scenes documentary visits the set of hit 2001 movie Stickmen. Scriptwriter Nick Ward reveals where he got the idea from; time flatting with six pub pool obsessives. Director Hamish Rothwell discusses finding the right talent to play lothario Jack (Robbie Magasiva) 'Hutt boy' Wayne (Scott Wills) and dreamer Thomas (Paolo Rotondo). Kirk Torrance describes his role as the enigmatic Holden as being about "consequences" and Luanne Gordon (The Strip) enthuses about playing sex worker Lulu. Stickmen won Ward Best Screenplay, and awards for Wills and Gordon's s acting at the 2001 NZ Film Awards.
