Hero image for Holmes - Roger Donaldson

Holmes - Roger Donaldson

Television (Excerpts) – 1999

Introducing this interview, presenter Paul Holmes describes Roger Donaldson as New Zealand's "first big time moviemaker". Reporter John Sellwood visits Donaldson on set in Queenstown, where the director has his executive producer hat on for Fearless, an American financed adventure sports telefeature. Sellwood quizzes Donaldson about his career, from the pioneering Sleeping Dogs to Hollywood spectaculars like Dante's Peak. Donaldson walks Sellwood around his vineyard and fends off a dig about his critically unloved 1988 feature Cocktail. He also calls Smash Palace his most "satisfying" work experience to date.

I'm glad I don't do this for a living because if I did I wouldn't have a job.
