The Wonderful World of...

Television (Full Length) – 1975

In 1976 Fred Dagg and his creator John Clarke became world famous in New Zealand and took away Entertainer of the Year. The previous year Clarke featured in this TV pilot, for a series which never happened. It mixes Dagg and other skits. Clarke's wit shines throughout  especially in an interview with David Sorenson, "the fastest poet in New Zealand" (Clarke) by Ross Jolly (Gliding On), which showcases Clarke's love of poetry and sports jargon. Jolly also plays a rabid interviewer inspired by star journalist Brian Edwards. Prime Minister Bill Rowling is a special guest in the final sketch, chatting to Dagg during a roadside assist.
