Samuel Scott

Composer

Lifelong Wellingtonian Samuel Scott has successfully turned his hand to many jobs; he's a singer, guitarist, founding member of The Phoenix Foundation, and has produced shows for Radio New Zealand and composed for the screen. Since his first screen composer credit on Seven Periods with Mr Gormsby in 2005, Scott has worked on a slate of television shows, including The Gulf, Separation City and Cleverman. He collaborates frequently with his The Phoenix Foundation bandmates Luke Buda and Conrad Wedde on composing, including on their award-winning scores for Taika Waititi films Hunt for the Wilderpeople and Boy.

Work on your songwriting and take that side of things very seriously. Songs are what all music is based on and without good songs a great singer or guitarist will never make any impact. Samuel Scott offers advice to new musicians, Wellington City Libraries website, 20 July 2014
