Heritage Rescue - 3, Series Three

Television (Full Length Episodes) – 2020

Heritage Rescue returns for it's final season, revamping small and provincial museums to help display their taonga. Led by the knowledgeable Brigid Gallagher, this season showcases a fun mix of museums  including a former prison in Napier (episode three), an aviation hangar in South Auckland (episode two), and a famous wrecking yard in the Central Plateau (episode one). A two-parter on the Port Chalmers museum near Dunedin chronicles the most ambitious revamp of the season (episodes 6 and 7). See the full episode guide above. En route, the team uncover incredible local stories that help make the museums shine; from hilarious anecdotes to heartbreaking history, and everything in-between.

I reckon that's the best thing about it actually, is you can have an aeroplane in a hangar, and people will come to see it. First they ask is 'What is it?'. And if you can put a sign on it and they say 'oh that's nice'. But if you put a story behind the aeroplane — it brings that aeroplane to life.
– NZ Warbirds museum vice president John Kelly, on having a human element in the museums' displays, at the end of episode two
