Thankyou for this amazing doc. many tears watching it, dont' understand why,but in my heart I hope this brings me closer to my own Kui. My dying wish is to find her. Heni Kaitoki, or Katuki, from Hawkes Bay, born about 1822, married John Farrell who jumped ship and lived with Heni's family, I believe he helped the whanau during the wars with his knowledge of weapons. They later went to Wellington and then to the South Island. They had 1 daughter Mary Anne, and I believe Heni died in Dunedin. God bless you my precious Kuia, maybe in heaven we will find each other. Aroha Nui your moko Lee

“the last of the Māori women with tattooed chins” ...I'm happy to say that after walking around Te Matatini 2015 in Otautahi, that there are many wahine both young and old who wear moko kauae, and that they will be by no means the last Maori women to wear moko. Thank you for uploading this

Appreciate this treasured information. Brings a tinge of sadness to know that this part of our culture will die soon. I respect the simplicity of these kuia's lives. Thank you for bringing it to our attention.
