Intrepid Journeys - Laos (Ruben Wiki)

Television (Full Length Episode) – 2009

In this Intrepid Journey, former rugby league player Ruben Wiki embraces the Land of a Million Elephants. Wiki immerses himself in the Laos way of life — praying at Vat Phou temple, fishing on (and falling in) the Mekong River, and shakily uncovering bombs leftover from the Vietnam War in the Vientiane region. He avoids the live frogs and reptiles at the food market, but isn't afraid to knock back shots of lao-lao whisky and choke down a few chilis with an Akha tribe family. Wiki, aka the Kava King, holds on tightly while riding an elephant, and commemorates ANZAC Day by placing a wreath in the Mekong River.

If I have to eat bat, squirrel, monkey...so be it.
