Kaikohe Blood & Fire

A pair of MMA (Mixed Martial Arts) fighters from the far north town of Kaikohe battle it out in the ring; but in this gym the battle isn’t just about the glory and grit, it’s about forging a path forward. At a community gym. seasoned international pro Dhcamad Armstrong wants to bring championship belts back to his hometown, and ex gang enforcer Dave finds discipline in the sport to help change old habits. Together the pair mentor a new generation through the guts of the game to find purpose, both in and out of the ring. Director Simon Ogston has also made documentaries on musicians Bill Direen and band The Skeptics.  

It’s not for everyone; this here, is not for everyone. You can train, it's all good, but when it comes to that ringing of the bell, that there isn't for everyone.
