Peppermint Twist - Let's Limbo Some More

Television (Full Length Episode) – 1987

How low have you and Harvey got now?
– Mandy (Louise Graham), to one of her limbo competitors
Only four couples left, and only one goes on to the regional finals in Wellington. Okay, lower the bar, hit the music and lets limbo!
– Competition host Peter Sinclair to the limbo contestants
My life is in ruin . . . Oh Harvey, don't you understand anything? I lied to my best friend — Mandy said she saw Dean and Mack limb-ing really low and I didn't tell her they were on wheels.
– Diane (Ruth Bijl) confesses her deceit to Harvey (Stephen Judd)
Look, one minute you say you're going to get them to break the rules, then you say they're cheating. What do you want?
– Spiro (Stanley Findlay) to Mandy (Louise Graham)
We should all just play fair and let the best couple win. After all, it's not who wins but the participating that matters.
– Diane (Ruth Bijl) tells Mandy (Louise Graham) that limbo is just a friendly competition
Hi swingers, come on in! The music's fine.
– Competition host Peter Sinclair to the assembled limbo contestants
Dean Wright, there is nothing scientific about the limbo rock.
– Mandy (Louise Graham) disputes Dean's (D'Arcy Waldegrave) claims of having found a "scientific" limbo technique
I went up there with a wonderful designer, Janet [Williamson], and I said, "What do we do here?" And also the budget was restricted. And she said, "What are you into?" And I said, "Well, you know what I really liked when I was growing up were those comics, those love comics. Where there was a good girl and a bad girl, teen ... This is pre-Grease. A good girl, a bad girl, their parents, da, da, da, da, da." And she said, "Let's do that. We can facade all these buildings and make it in a fantasy. We'll have a soda bar, coffee bar called the Do Duck Inn, and we'll have bright colours and peppermint tea," and it went from there.
– Ginette McDonald on how Peppermint Twist was born from the Whitemans Valley set used for The Fire-Raiser, in her Funny As interview
