In the aftermath of an explosion that rocked the Pike River Mine and took the lives of 29 West Coasters, two women step up to fight for accountability. Based on true events, Rob Sarkies' movie follows Anna Osborne (Melanie Lynskey, from Heavenly Creatures) and Sonya Rockhouse (Outrageous Fortune's Robyn Malcolm), who have each lost a loved one in the disaster. As official responses slow and accountability begins to look elusive, the pair take their cause to the courts and the nation. Director Rob Sarkies (Out of the Blue) and writer Fiona Samuels (Consent) worked closely with families of the Pike River miners.
I need my husband. He can't stay there. I need to bury him.– Anna Osborne (Melanie Lynskey)
