This Qantas and TV Guide award-winning documentary is an account of the final days and sinking of the Russian cruise liner, Mikhail Lermontov. On Febuary 16th, 1986, she ran aground on rocks near Port Gore in the Marlborough Sounds. Passengers were successfully evacuated, but one of the Russian crew lost his life, and several were injured. First hand evidence is given by those who were there. There is a particular emphasis on presenting the stories of the Russian crew, who were largely unavailable to the media at the time of the disaster.
