The Rehearsal

Film (Trailer and Excerpts) – 2016

M
Mature

Alison Maclean (Kitchen Sink, Crush) returned to Aotearoa after years abroad to direct this film based on Luminaries author Eleanor Catton's first novel. The acting school drama stars James Rolleston (Boy) as a student who takes a real life sex scandal involving a tennis coach and uses it as creative fuel for a live performance. The cast mixes experienced names (Kerry Fox, who won acclaim for her hectoring drama teacher) with emerging talents (Ella Edward, Kieran Charnock). Connan Mockasin supplies the music. Nominated for 13 Moa Awards, The Rehearsal debuted at the 2016 NZ International Film Festival.

Acting's hard work Stanley; you have to earn my respect.
