Episode 1 – Oshyn's Story
Before falling pregnant with son Devante at the age of 16, Oshyn had dropped out of school. Now she has a dream to become a police officer and work with troubled youth. For Devante's fifth birthday, he gets a haircut and his ears pierced, ready for his first day at school. He loves his new classroom, but when Oshyn is told they have to move back to her mum's it means Devante has to change schools already. Five months after starting a youth development course Oshyn was offered a Housing New Zealand house, in zone for Devante to return to his original school.
Episode 2 – Kahu's Story
Kahu was 15 when she found out she was six months pregnant. Juggling motherhood with her high school education, Kahu is preparing for exams and planning to attend university to study social work. Her schedule is packed — after picking up Taimana when she finishes school, Kahu heads to work as a children's dance teacher before going to a dance class with her peers. She then gets back home for dinner and bathtime. At the end of the school year, Kahu was runner-up for the Dux award and offered a one-year scholarship to uni.
Episode 3 — Michaela's Story
Michaela has had to move three times in one year, and she's behind in her schoolwork. She was 16 when she fell pregnant with her first child and is hoping to get accepted to study for a Bachelor of Education, inspired by her nan who was a teacher. Michaela has a day of work experience in a classroom and absolutely loves it, followed by an interview at the university, which she aces and receives confirmation of her acceptance. Michaela then attends her high school graduation ceremony, accompanied by a very proud mum, and receives the academic award.
