Girl vs. Boy - Series One

Television (Full Length Episodes) – 2012

Episode One
When perfect teenage couple Hailey (Carolyn Dando) and Tim (Josh McKenzie) break up, shock waves are felt around their tight-knit suburb, The Bay. Everyone has an opinion and the couple's best friend Maxine (Courtney Abbot) is caught in the middle. Maxine turns 'love detective' to find out what went wrong. The break-up threatens to overshadow Hailey's sister's engagement. Maxine, on the lookout for love herself, is determined to reunite her friends.

Episode Two
Maxine's counsellor mum, Rose (Tina Cleary), suggests Maxine take matters in hand to find out who Hailey's been texting, so Maxine 'borrows' Hailey's cellphone. The suburb's biggest break-up is causing friction at the local video store. Maxine stalks the mysterious blonde she saw hanging out with Tim and surprises her friend at the home of Norwegians Kjesten (Abby Damen) and Olaf (Chris Parker).

Episode Three
Maxine endures her birthday, receiving random gifts from her mum while trying to find the culprit behind the Hailey smear campaign posters. Tim sinks further into depression and asks Maxine to spy on Hailey to discover the love poet. Bob (Paul Yates) and Cecil (John Chalmers) wage a war over a shared berm and Maxine's camera is found. Could footage of the engagement party help solve the mystery?

Episode Four
Maxine discovers some hot leads in the party footage, including a girl exiting the changing rooms in a pair of blue shoes. More love poetry from Hailey has detective Maxine on edge. Nicky (Miranda Manasiadis) from the fish and chip shop chooses sides. Kjesten is prowling around Tim's house. Maxine, Jake (Will Robertson) and Grayson (Nathan Brabender) do some snooping in Hailey's room.

Episode Five
Maxine, Gina (Emma Draper), Jake and Grayson attempt to talk their way out of breaking into Hailey's room. Bob and Cecil transfer their feud about their kids' break-up to waging 'war' over mowing their shared berm. Maxine confronts a depressed Tim, who convinces her to wear a listening device so he can eavesdrop on her conversations with Hailey. Kjesten continues to pursue an uninterested Tim, and is sprung by Hailey. Maxine and Jake's friendship deepens and Maxine's perspective shifts.

Episode Six
At a hen's night for Hailey's sister Sarah (Kate McGill) Maxine has a breakthrough about the blue shoes — or does she? Tim attempts to serenade his way back into Hailey's heart. Maxine has suspicions about Gina and Jake. Rose calls Hailey and Tim into the counsellor's office but tensions flare. Maxine grows closer to Jake and more shock video footage is released, potentially turning the community against someone new.

Episode Seven
Al (Allan Henry) from the video shop creams the wrong car in his feud with Bob. Maxine and Jake's promising relationship hits turbulence when Maxine sees where Jake really lives. Gina and Maxine help professional bowler Ben (Tawanda Manyimo) out at The Bay lawn bowls tournament, where Olaf proves a dark horse. Maxine has a flash of intuition and wonders if something amiss in Ben and Sarah's relationship could explain everything.

Episode Eight
Sarah and Ben's wedding day arrives and Maxine angsts over her suspicions. Jake and Gina urge her not to tell, and Gina comes up with a creative excuse for Maxine avoiding Hailey. Tim tries to reveal a secret to Grayson. Sarah discovers Hailey's scrapbook and an unexpected truth is revealed about the love poetry, but Maxine confesses her suspicions to Ben anyway. Hailey is accused of trying to upstage her sister. Everyone from The Bay is at the wedding and Maxine has a major job to do to pull the community together again, as misunderstandings and gossip take over the church.
