Holmes - Topp Twins Mayoral Campaign

Television (Excerpts) – 1998

In 1998 Camp Mother (entertainer Lynda Topp), supported by Camp Leader (Jools Topp), launched a campaign for Auckland's top job. Paul Holmes talked to the political newbies near the controversial Britomart Transport Centre site, quizzing Camp Mother and her campaign manager about the city's transport woes and how the "big camping ground" of Tämaki Makarau needs a mayor who is soft and strong. The trio enjoy a latte on Ponsonby Road and discuss plans for the mayoral car. Lynda Topp later said that after doing well at candidate's debates in the lead-up to the election, the pair decided it was safest to pull out.

It's a beautiful concept.
