In this episode of his documentary series, Nigel Latta heads back to school and makes some surprising discoveries about the evolution of strategies, subjects and attitudes in the New Zealand education system. Latta visits Pakuranga College in East Auckland and Glen Innes primary school Point England, and finds that core subjects like english and maths have undergone a sea change since his time in uniform. Latta tries dance and panel beating class, and talks to principals, teachers and educational expert Professor John Hattie about myths around decile rankings and the belief that academic standards are falling.
