Nigel Latta

Television, 2014

Psychologist Nigel Latta tackles some big topics in this six-part series. The episodes explore alcohol (The Trouble with Booze), child abuse (Killing Our Kids), schools (The School Report), inequality (The New Haves and Have-Nots), the prison system (Behind Bars), and sugar (Is Sugar the New Fat?) Latta spends a night in prison, joins classes at a low-decile school, and meets ex-cons and a former child abuser turned anti-violence campaigner. The show's creators consulted with economists, academics, social workers and others directly on the coal face. The series was later retitled The Hard Stuff, in line with Latta's follow-up show.
