Blue Lady

Hello Sailor

Synopsis

This performance by Hello Sailor was recorded by TVNZ in Christchurch at the Civic Theatre in Manchester Street (later a casualty of the February 2011 earthquake). Lead singer Graham Brazier wrote the song in 15 minutes and it was a last minute addition to the band’s debut album (and their second Top 20 single of 1977). It was later considered as a possible theme song for an Australian police TV drama series — but it would have been a bizarre choice. This ‘Blue Lady’ came from the wrong side of the tracks. It was junkie slang for a hypodermic syringe.
