Based partly on two tragedies that occurred in Europe, this stylised and darkly comic tale centres on a butcher (Murray Keane) who works near Parliament. The butcher leaves his young son to handle the customers, while he goes upstairs to engage in some hanky-panky with his wife (Miranda Harcourt). A desperate shoplifter (Carol Smith) attempts to charm the butcher's son. With rent payments due, underlying tensions soon erupt into a bloody nightmare. Director Stuart McKenzie and his real-life partner Harcourt would collaborate again on murderer meets journalist movie For Good.
No son of mine’s going to be a bloody politician!– The Butcher (Murray Keane) explodes after a customer (Tūngia Baker) talks to her son
