How to Meet Girls from a Distance

Film (Trailer and Excerpts) – 2012

R13
Restricted

In this "peeping tom rom-com" Toby (Richard Falkner) gets a little carried away following the object of his desire — SPCA worker Phoebe (Scarlet Hemingway). His dating guru (Jonny Brugh) doesn't help. The winner of the Make My Movie Feature Film Competition was completed in six months for $100,000. The team had collaborted on 48Hours films; they proved you don't need a big budget and years of development to make a crowd-pleasing feature. Following successful screenings at the 2012 NZ Film Festival, it won an award in France. It was also nominated for six NZ Film Awards, including Best Film, Screenplay and Director.

The team behind How to Meet Girls from A Distance should be applauded for doing the seemingly impossible by making a film in six months, and, even better, for making it genuinely funny.
