Woolly Valley - Series One Compilation

Television (Full Length Episodes) – 1982

Episode One — 'Pancakes'
Wally Woolly (Tony Wahren) has planned to run errands in town today, and the last task on his to-do list is to get a great big, triple-scoop ice cream. In the peace and quiet of his absence, his wife Beattie Woolly (Ann Simpson) has planned to make herself one perfect pancake. When these plans can't go ahead, their young friend Tussock (Russell Smith) has the perfect solution.

Episode Two — 'Plum Jammed'
Wally and Beattie's plum tree has been extremely generous this year, and they are absolutely overrun with ripe plums! Beattie is insistent they must not let the plums go to waste, it would hurt the tree's feelings. But now every room of their sweet little home is filled with plum jam… will they be able to eat it all, with their sanity intact?

Episode Three — 'Buried Treasure'
Beattie has been saving money for her own birthday celebrations, because Wally always forgets! Eunice the sheep (Sara Jones) is meant to be guarding the bag of money, but when she falls asleep on the job, Wally and Tussock discover the "buried treasure" and claim it for themselves! They have no idea the money is Beattie's, and Beattie has no idea who took her stash — what a pickle!

Episode Four — 'Washday Blues'
Beattie has been waiting for Wally to fix her washing line for an age, but there's always something else to do — today, it's fixing Tussock's truck! The washing line has malfunctioned again and Beattie hasn't much patience for it; she's been up since “the first quardle oodle wardle doodle”. Will Tussock, Wally and Eunice be able to help?

Episode Five — 'Smoke'
The nights are drawing in and the air is getting cooler; it's autumn in Woolly Valley! Wally is ready to burn the fallen leaves, and Beattie is ready to stoke the fire to cook some delicious pots of soup. But Tussock has other plans — he informs the pair of the terrible effects of smoke on the environment. Will Beattie and Wally be able to survive on raw turnips all autumn, for the cause?

Episode Six — 'Bumps in the Night'
Beattie and Wally are having trouble sleeping — it sounds like there is something walking on their roof in the middle of the night! But every time they go to check, there is no one to be seen. Beattie has tried counting sheep (specifically Eunice, jumping over a fence), but it didn't help… could Eunice actually have the answer for what's going on?

Episode Seven — 'Chippy Litter'
Wally is busy chopping wood for the fireplace when enthusiastic environmentalist Tussock becomes agitated — those wood chips are littering the countryside that he loves so dearly! Wally suggests they throw the wood chips into the fire of the stove. But how will that affect the buttery scones that Beattie is baking, the ones that Wally has been so excited to eat?

Episode Eight — 'Ladders'
Wally is working on his thatched roof and Tussock is working in the garden when a misunderstanding leaves Wally stranded. Wally is stuck on the top of the house, then — in her efforts to help him — Beattie gets stuck on top of the woodshed! With only the scent of "lavender and new-mown hay” to entertain them, it's going to be a long day.

Episode Nine — 'Well, Well, Well'
Beattie is filling up buckets of water from the well when she begins to wonder if it's no ordinary well, but a wishing well! Whenever she, Tussock or Wally rub their hands together and make a wish near the well, it comes true — no matter how strange or silly the wish is. Could it be magic, or coincidence? Wally has an idea to test it…

Episode Ten — 'Flat as Flat'
Tussock has arrived to take Beattie and Wally to a shindig on a neighbouring farm. Beattie is particularly excited — she is wearing a new hat and has baked a delicious cake (with icing!). When Tussock's old truck gets a flat tyre, Beattie is devastated that she might miss the party. Luckily, Wally has a solution… but it's a very creative one. Eunice the sheep is sceptical!

Episode Eleven — 'One Step at a Time'
Wally is feeling philosophical on this fine morning, and would like Beattie to join him sitting on the fence for a moment of quiet contemplation. But when the fence breaks under Beattie's bottom, she is outraged — that's going to bruise where a bruise hurts most! Will Wally be able to mend the fence and earn one of Beattie's buttery scones with a steaming hot cup of tea?

Episode Twelve — 'A Hairy Problem'
Beattie wants to give Tussock a haircut, but Wally is highly opposed — that's Tussock's business! Tussock is actually excited for a haircut, but it's been a long time since Beattie has cut hair. Wally tries to come to the rescue, but the pair end up chopping and chopping and chopping… They decide to hide the mirror from Tussock.

Episode Thirteen — 'What's for Dinner?'
Beattie thinks Wally doesn't appreciate how hard she works — she's sick of being asked “what's for dinner?” The pair decide to swap roles for a day: Wally will manage the domestic chores and Beattie will work in the field with Tussock. Beattie is coping much better with the change than Wally is, and she wonders what Wally might have prepared for dinner.
