A beautiful slow paced but methodical film, dripping with metaphor and symbolism. The film follows the experience of a troubled tomboy called Toss dealing with the loss of her father, and his seeming replacement by a new and mysterious man. This is without a doubt one of the greatest arthouse films to come out of New Zealand.
