Paul Richards

Paul Richards began his screen career in 1973 as a camera operator. Over the next four decades, Richards made a name for himself shooting a wide range of documentaries (Anger Within: Jonah Lomu, Our People, Our Century, Piano Man) and commercials in New Zealand, and abroad. He once filmed brain surgery in the United States, battling difficult lighting and dealing with nervous patients for a Discovery show. Richards was a board member (and sometime Vice President) of the NZ Cinematographers Society. He also established and ran Auckland camera rental business Nutshell. Richards died on 29 March 2021.
