From the Album Te Whare Tīwekaweka (2025)

Winner of the prestigious APRA Silver Scroll and Aotearoa Music Awards' Single of the Year, 'Aua Atu Rā' is inspired by 1960s Māori showbands. Marlon Williams (Kāi Tahu, Ngāi Tai), who also directs, is introduced in a therapy session that segues into floating on a raft, and gradually weaves in performance elements. "Ko au anake, ki te waka, ki te moana," Williams sings (I am alone, in this boat, on the ocean) in this first single from te reo album Te Whare Tīwekaweka. The album was a multiple award-winner too, including the Taite Music Prize and Album of the Year at the 2026 Aotearoa Music Awards.
