About

New Zealand's first sitcom was a rollicking, risqué series about the various university students who end up in a dilapidated Wellington flat. British actor Myra De Groot played landlady Mrs Platt: her tenants included Paul Holmes, Goodbye Pork Pie's Tony Barry, and in season two, John Clarke and Catherine Downes. With its bawdy humour, drinking and occasional coarse language, the pioneering late night show sated the needs of many Kiwis desperate for a show with an identifiable local flavour. Others felt it totally crossed the line.
