About

Launched by actor and South Tonight presenter Derek Payne, Something to Look Forward to was TV2's first venture into comedy. The sketch show also produced another screen first; actor David McPhail's signature impersonation of Prime Minister Robert Muldoon. The cast included cartoonist Peter Bromhead and Marcus Craig, better known to cabaret audiences as drag artist Diamond Lil. Among these excerpts, Muldoon leads a reggae ode to his own brilliance, early Māori Pākehā relations are parodied, and Rhys Jones host of talent show Opportunity Knocks  is hounded by hopeful auditionees.
