New Zealand-born actor Barbara Ewing appeared in 1960s British horror films, and won fame in England as buxom Agnes Fairchild on 1980s TV comedy Brass. Ewing was raised in New Zealand, before leaving to train at RADA in London. In 1979 she won a Feltex Award for expat returning to New Zealand drama Rachel. Ewing has written plays and several acclaimed novels, including theatre-set bestseller The Mesmerist.
