Bill Hohepa is a legend of Kiwi recreational fishing. The "godfather of fishing programmes", longtime columnist and founder of Camp Hohepa (empowering at-risk children via fishing), has made more than 20 videos/DVDs and around 500 hours of TV (mainly for regional channels, on fishing and transport history). In 2014 Hohepa was inducted as a member of the NZ Order of Merit.
Biography
Bill Hohepa, born Wayne Wills, got hooked on fishing as a boy, after being taken out on trips by his uncle. "One of my earliest memories is buying a piper net at 12-years-old, carrying the bait fish in a sugar sack and biking to Auckland Zoo where I’d sell it as animal food." he told AA Directions magazine in 2017.
