After acting in plays at high school, Francis 'Frankie' Mossman studied at Auckland University, where he got a Master of Arts with First Class Honours. Among his roles on television and in short films, he acted in beloved soap Shortland Street in 2007. Before shifting to Sydney in 2012, he played Vitus in Spartacus: Vengeance — a rebel and former slave of the House of Batiatus. In Australia Mossman joined The Horizon, then the world's most watched gay-themed web series, to play troubled drug addict Stevie Hughes.
