Geoff Chapple, ONZM, won an NZ Film Award for Vincent Ward fantasy The Navigator. Chapple co-wrote the script, and also co-authored Ward's book Edge of the Earth. Chapple's other books include Rewi Alley of China, written after he scripted two documentaries about Alley. Later Chapple co-directed The Second Blade of Grass - Rewi Alley's Life in China. He also co-wrote awardwinning short Talkback, co-founded percussion ensemble From Scratch, and initiated national walking trail Te Araroa. He helped win interest in the trail by walking the length of the North Island, becoming one of Aotearoa's earliest bloggers along the way.
