Grant Campbell was the proverbial all-rounder. He blew up cars for movie Bad Taste, negotiated record deals while managing musical duo The Front Lawn, and produced Cinema of Unease — New Zealand's acclaimed entry in a series of documentaries exploring the movies of various nations. Campbell's work as a producer also included two quirky Front Lawn short films, and a documentary on Kiwi soldiers in Vietnam, directed by his brother Bryce. Grant's own directing work leaned towards comedy — from sketch show Skitz to his short Dirty Creature. He was also in at the birth of consumer rights show Target. He died on 2 July 2024, aged 64. “Grant and Bryce’s generosity with their time, inventiveness and humour made everything work, except their own work, which often took a back seat to helping other people.”
